In the end the Australian Institute of Sport skater had to settle for a 17th in the 500 metres and 14th in the 1000 metre race.
Both results, which disappointed the Australian skater, kept him in the sports Division A.
“The weekend didn't start so well as the night before racing a major part of my skates broke and I spent all night repairing them,” Greig said.
“The 500 metres today started out really well and I was far ahead of opponent, but slipped in the last corner and lost all of my speed, which really hurt my final time.
“The 1000m went better.”
“I tried a different way of pacing the race which made my finish stronger. The rank was 14th in the end, pretty average, but a nice come back after such a terrible 500m.
Jan Smeekens, from the Neterlands, won the 500 metre race, while the United State’s Brian Hansen took the honours in the 1000 metres.
