NSWIS/SSA Development Mogul Program completes successful overseas tour
01 February 2010

Four athletes winning Europa Cup medals has highlighted the most successful Australian Europa Cup tour to date for the NSWIS and SSA Development Mogul programs.

An action-packed schedule for the athletes included six Europa Cup events in three different countries over a 10 day period.

Seventeen-year-old Jindabyne skier Nicole Parks had the most success of the athletes, taking home a medal at each of the three venues.

Also contributing to the medal haul were 15-year-old young guns Matthew Graham and Britteny Cox, who continue to stamps themselves as outstanding prospects for the future.

Karinya Turnbull was the fourth athlete to win a medal, finishing third in the final event at Oberjoch, Germany.

A number of athletes also achieved personal bests, including Mt Buller’s Brodie Summers who made his first Europa Cup final in Switzerland.

NSWIS Head Coach Peter “Toppa” Topalovic was extremely pleased with his young team.

“I'm rather proud of the athletes, they continually prove themselves as being world class for their age, consistently being competitive against much older competitors.”

“Each year we keep improving on results from the previous year, with more medallists and athletes in finals.”

The team will now return to Australia for a well-earned break, with the exception of Britteny Cox who will be competing at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
