Lockett now has her sights set on making the A-Final of the 1500 metres on Sunday when she contests the semi-final early tomorrow afternoon. Following her season best fourth placing last weekend in the 1500 metres in Shanghai, Lockett will take a lot of confidence into tomorrow.
In the Men’s 1000 metres, Armstrong Lazenby was unable to make it past the repechage quarter final after finishing fourth in a time of one minute 34.392 seconds.
Nate Henry and Alex Bryant both finished fifth in their respective 1500 metre repechage heats, meaning they too did not qualify for the next stage.
Pierre Boda can consider himself unlucky after drawing a tough heat in the Men’s 1000 metres Quarter Final, where he finished fourth in a time of one minute 26.053 seconds. To put the toughness of the group into perspective, Boda’s time was quicker than each of the winners of the other Quarter Finals.
The Aussie Men’s 5000 metre relay team will contest the B-Final tomorrow, where they’ll face off against Kazakhstan, Hungary and Japan.
