After yesterday’s 4th placing in the 1500 metres A-Final, Deanna Lockett was back in action today, this time in the Quarter Finals of the 1000 metres.
Lockett was in a tough group and skated well, eventually finishing 4th, just 0.258 seconds behind winner, Minjeong Choi of Korea.
Pierre Boda made it through to the Repechage Semi Finals of the 1000 metres, where he finished 2nd, therefore missing out on a Quarter Final berth. Boda skated well finishing in a time of one minute 31.363 seconds.
In the Men’s 500 metres (2), Nate Henry progressed through the Repechage Heats but bowed out in the Repechage Semis.
Coach Anthony Barthell was extremely positive after the weekend’s action saying “the guys have shown improvement over this weekend. They all have inserted themselves into the middle of races. Each competition they have gained experience and more understanding about racing. I'm looking forward to seeing how they go in Korea”.
Barthell is confident that Alex Bryant will skate next weekend in Seoul after suffering concussion last Wednesday during practice and therefore not competing in Shanghai for precautionary reasons.
The squad will now head to Seoul with competition getting underway on December 19th.
