Lydia Lassila

Fulfilling a dream can often spell the end of the journey and motivation for many elite sports people, but not so for Australia’s golden girl of aerial skiing, Lydia Lassila. After striving to become an Olympic athlete throughout most of her childhood, Lydia’s relentless drive to capture a medal was rewarded with Gold at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Instantly she became the toast of the nation and a high profile athlete.
But now the dream is being revisited with even grander ambitions ahead. She wants to become a dual medalist and the first Australian mother to do so. Balancing the demands of motherhood and the pressures that go with being an internationally recognised athlete, she is working towards the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The plan is devised, watch this space to see it unfold during the next few years.
