Thank you from Finnan's Gift

Alisa Camplin and Oliver Warner

A remarkable achievement in fundraising was honoured today at The Royal Children’s Hospital, as Alisa Camplin and Oliver Warner unveiled the $300,000 state-of-the-art echocardiology scanning machine purchased in memory of their son Finnan, who passed away earlier this year at just 10 days old from Congenital Heart Disease.

Through support such as yours the RCH was able to secure this crucial piece of equipment for the Cardiology department. More than 3000 individuals, families and organisations touched by Alisa and Oliver’s courageous appearance on 60 Minutes and heartbreaking story in Woman’s Day helped raise the Finnan’s Gift $300,000 target in just 3 months.

"We are completely overwhelmed by the charitable warmth of all the generous people who’ve contributed to Finnan’s Gift. We are so proud that collectively Finnan’s Gift has been able to purchase vital medical equipment that will help save lives…and it has helped us start rebuilding ours too.

Finnan’s Gift blessed us with the opportunity to continue talking about our beautiful boy while trying to do something positive with our grief. We never anticipated how spirit renewing the process of achieving this goal would be, and feel indebted to all who helped us. The team at The Royal Children’s Hospital are truly marvellous and they deserve the absolute best in their ongoing quest to support our children and their families. Finnan’s Gift will now keep giving, with a targeted annual grant program in place to make a lasting difference."

Now that Finnan’s Gift has achieved its original goal, Alisa and Oliver will continue to raise funds in Finnan's name in order to benefit other families. They have created an ongoing fund to support the doctors, nurses, surgeons and specialists of the RCH that were instrumental in Finnan’s care.

With continued donations, each year on Finnan’s birthday a tangible grant will be awarded to a different department within The Royal Children's Hospital. Finnan’s Gift annual grants will focus on excellence in leadership and education, technology and equipment, and medical research that directly improves support for patients and their families.
