Heading into her third and final Olympic campaign, Australia’s most successful female Ski Cross athlete Jenny Owens is aiming to finish her career with an outstanding Olympic performance.
Starting her career as an alpine skier, Jenny competed successfully at Olympic and World Cup levels, highlighted by a top-10 performance in the combined discipline at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, USA. After the games in Salt Lake City, Jenny reached a crossroad in her career. She made a tough decision to retire from racing and join the workforce in a 9-5 job.
After 18 months, she realised that she had more to offer winter sports and made a comeback in the Ski Cross discipline, which was added to the Olympic program for the first time at the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games
As a ski cross athlete, Jenny has achieved a number of outstanding results including two World Cup silver medals and a fifth place performance at the 2011 World Championships.
