Andy Fischer on top of the podium

NSWIS Snowboard Cross athletes Cam Bolton and Andy Fischer have had a successful weekend at the US Snowboard Association (USASA) event at Copper Mountain, Colorado, with Andy recording his first win of the season and Cam winning bronze.

Cam Bolton started his season strong this year, competing in the World Cup opening event of the season in Telluride alongside World Champion Alex Pullin. Cam will now focus on the Nor-Am events and compete in targeted World Cup events during the season with the OWI/AIS program. Cam is currently training with the International Snowboard Training Centre (ISTC) program out of Copper Mountain. Cam's coaches are pleased with his fast progress and report that he will be in good form for his first 2012 World Cup in Blue Mountain, Canada.

Andy Fischer started the 2011-2012 season a bit later due to school commitments but is picking up the pace quickly. Recording a win early in the season will set Andy up for the next Nor-Am race in Big White, Canada. Andy is also training under the ISTC program out of Copper Mountain. The ISTC coaches are happy with Andy's passion for SBX and his ability to pick up technique fast. After the Nor-Am circuit Andy will join the OWI/AIS program at the Valmalenco, Italy, World Cup where he will forerun the event. This will be key for training and preparation for the 2012 Junior World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

Both athletes trained alongside Alex Pullin last domestic season which is definitely paying off, their skill is progressing well and they are improving as Snowboard Cross racers.

AIS Snowboard Head Coach Ben Wordsworth was happy with the performances of both athletes over the weekend and is looking forward to continued results throughout the 2012 season.
