The 2025 World Championships in Saalbach, Austria, have concluded with the technical giant slalom and slalom events.
 
2022 Olympian Louis Muhlen-Schulte skied to a personal best World Championship finish of 31st in the giant slalom, Australia’s best performance over the two weeks of competition in Saalbach.
 
Muhlen-Schulte was in 36th place after the first run and improved to have the 31st fastest time in the second run, and 31st overall.
 
In the slalom Muhlen-Schulte was unable to complete the run recording a DNF.

Phoebe Heaydon: Giant Slalom – DNF1 Slalom – DNF1
Connor Leggett: Slalom – 48th

Three-time Olympian Greta Small has suffered an unfortunate knee injury during the downhill race at the 2025 World Championships in Saalbach, Austria.
 
Competing under sunny skies at her sixth World Championships, Small was the 23rd skier on the start list, and tweaked her knee one third of the way down the course. Fortunately Small was able to come to stop and avoided crashing.
 
American Breezy Johnson won the downhill event ahead of Austrian Mirjam Puchner in second and two-sport 2018 Olympic Alpine Skiing and Snowboard PGS gold medallist Ester Ledecka in third.
 
Earlier in Saalbach, Small also competed in the super-g, but was disqualified after missing the last gate.
 
Victory in the super-g went to Austrian Stephanie Venier, Italian Federica Brignone was second and American Lauren Macuga was third.
 
Small will now return home for further evaluation to assess her knee, but looks set for a long stint on the sidelines.

Last week Schladming in Austria hosted World Cup giant slalom and slalom events, 2022 Olympian Louis Muhlen-Schulte and Hugh McAdam represented Australia in the spectacular night events where 45,000 fans keen ski racing fans attended.
 
The first event in Schladming was the giant slalom, Muhlen-Schulte placed 53rd in the first run.
 
In the slalom event, unfortunately both Muhlen-Schulte and McAdam did not finish their runs.
 
Norway celebrated a double victory in Schladming, Timon Haugan was first in the slalom and then Alexander Steen Olsen won the giant slalom.

Snow Australia is pleased to announce the selection of Greta Small to the 2025 Alpine World Ski Championship Team to compete in the speed events of Downhill and Super G.
 
The Alpine World Ski Championships will this year be held in Saalbach, Austria, from February 4 - 16.
 
Greta Small will compete in both the Downhill and Super G races, before being joined by fellow National Alpine Ski Team member Phoebe Heaydon to contest the inaugural Team Combined race.
 
The new Team Combined event will replace the individual combined event, making its debut in a senior major competition ahead of making its first Winter Olympic appearance at Milano Cortina 2026.
 
"I am really looking forward to joining the team again for this World Championships in Saalbach, Austria. I will be meeting Greta and her staff on Sunday at the hotel with the first official DH training on the 4th of February. Besides the first week of speed races, I will be looking forward to watching Greta and Phoebe Heaydon team up to represent Australia and compete in the first ever Team Combined." said Shawn Fleming, Snow Australia's Alpine Program Director.
 
"I also think this will be an exciting transition to the second week of competition which will see more Aussies competing in both GS and SL. We will have another media release for those team members next week as we get closer to their arrival and beginning of their competition week. I will do my best to keep everyone up to date and give some behind the scenes sneak peaks of the athletes."
 
All events from Saalbach, Austria are set to be live streamed via SnowLive.
 
The Australian Team for the technical events of slalom and giant slalom will be announced next week.
