Matt Cox first strapped on a snowboard at age 2, and took part on his first ever snowboard competition when he was six-years-old.
Cox made his World Cup debut in the halfpipe discipline in 2015, placing 29th in Park City, USA.
In the 2016-2017 season, Cox started to compete regularly on the World Cup circuit in the big air and slopestyle disciplines and hasn't looked back,
Cox's breakthrough year came in 2019, where he placed 11th at the big air event in Cardrona, New Zealand, and also made his World Championship debut with a 24th place in the slopestyle at Park City.
In the 2019-2020 season Cox continued his momentum from the previous year, starting the season off with a personal best fifth place finish in the Cardrona big air. Cox also had another top-10 big air performance in Beijing. His best slopestyle result was a 21st place finish in Laax, Switzerland.
The highlight of Cox's 2020-2021 season was a tenth place big air performance at the World Championships in Aspen, USA.
In the final Olympic qualification events, Cox found great form with finals performances at World Cup slopestyle events in Calgary, Canada, and in Laax, Switzerland, where he finished in a personal best seventh place.
Cox made his Olympic debut at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, finishing in 26th place in the slopestyle and 28th in the big air event.
