Information for eligible athletes regarding OWIA contracts, performance grants and application processes.
OVERVIEW
The Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) provides structured support opportunities for high performance athletes through athlete contracts and performance-based funding programs.
These opportunities are designed to support Australia’s most talented winter sport athletes on their pathway toward Olympic Winter Games and World Championship success.
All applications are assessed based on strict performance and selection criteria.
ATHLETE CONTRACTS
​(2026–2030 Cycle)

​The OWIA 2026–2030 program cycle is currently under review and is expected to be confirmed in May 2026.
Eligible athletes may submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for a 2026–2027 OWIA Athlete Contract.
Before applying, athletes must review the official selection criteria to confirm eligibility.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • Only eligible athletes who meet the selection criteria will be considered
  • Contracts are awarded based on performance standards and program priorities

INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE
​PERFORMANCE GRANT
​OWIA provides Individual Athlete Performance Grants to support high performance athletes with strong potential for Olympic Winter Games success.
These grants are highly selective and are designed to support athletes who demonstrate exceptional performance at the international level.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Athletes may be considered if they:
  • Are likely to be selected for the 2030 Olympic Winter Games
  • Are currently, or have been, the best performing Australian in their sport
ELIGIBLE SPORTS
Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Luge, Long Track Speed Skating, Short Track Speed Skating, Skeleton, Ski Cross, SkiMo
IMPORTANT NOTES
  • Only athletes who meet minimum selection criteria will be considered
  • Typically, only one grant is awarded per sport
  • If no athlete meets criteria, no grant will be awarded

​All applications must be submitted before the closing deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.
OWIA reserves the right to review, amend or update funding programs in line with national high performance priorities.
