BIOGRAPHY
Seve de Campo's journey into cross-country skiing began at the Interschools level at Mt Buller.
Encouraged by his father, he switched disciplines from alpine to cross country, and quickly developed a passion for the sport’s rhythm and endurance, describing the experience as a “flow-like state” that captivated him from the start.
de Campo made his first major international appearance at the 2017 FIS World Junior Championships in the USA, followed by further junior and U23 World Championship campaigns in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
His senior breakthrough came at the 2021 World Championships in Oberstdorf, where he achieved a 17th place finish in the team sprint.
At the Beijing 2022 Olympics, de Campo competed in five events, with his best individual result being 51st in the gruelling 50km mass start free, which was shortened to 30km due to extreme conditions. He also paired with Phil Bellingham in the team sprint, finishing 22nd.
Since then, de Campo has continued to progress on the World Cup circuit and at World Championships. His personal bests include 45th in the 10km mass start free at Val di Fiemme in 2025 and 50th in the 50km mass start free at the Trondheim World Championships the same year.
He has also contributed to Australia’s best relay performances in decades, including a 16th place in the mixed relay in Goms in 2024.
de Campo trains out of Lillehammer, Norway, and has completed a double degree in Engineering (Honours) and Commerce at the Australian National University, balancing his academic pursuits with elite sport. His younger brother Fedele also skis for Australia competing in World Cup and World Championship events.
de Campo’s 2025–26 season commenced in Scandinavia with World Cup events in Finland and Norway. His best result came in Davos, Switzerland, with a 66th-place finish in the 10km freestyle, leading the Australian men in that event.
At the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, de Campo competed at his second Olympics, lining up in three individual events. He finished 57th in the skiathlon and 61st in the 10km interval start free, before recording his top result of the Games with 41st in the 50km mass start classic. These results represented an improvement on his performances from Beijing 2022 and marked his best Olympic finish to date.
In the final events of the World Cup season, he placed 64th in the 50km in Oslo and 57th in the 10km interval start classic at the Lake Placid World Cup, along with 74th in sprint qualification and 77th in the 20km mass start free at the same venue. He also recorded a 75th-place finish in the sprint in Drammen.
