Sidney Stephens is an emerging force in Australia’s aerial skiing program.
A former elite gymnast from Western Australia, Stephens transitioned to aerial skiing in 2021.
Currently a Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship holder, Stephens is pursuing studies in Psychological Science, balancing academic goals with the demands of elite sport.
Stephens first international events were Nor-Am Cup, European Cup and the 2023 FIS Junior World Championships in Austria, where she placed 7th.
She made her FIS World Cup debut in January 2025 at Lake Placid, finishing 28th in a highly competitive field.
She followed up with a strong performance at the iconic Deer Valley World Cup, placing 14th, her best World Cup result to date.
Stephens showcased her potential at the Nor-Am Cup in Utah, where she secured second place, narrowly missing gold with a score of 69.42 points for a lay-tuck double back somersault in her final event of the 2024-2025 season.
Stephens opened the 2025–2026 FIS World Cup season in December, gaining valuable experience against world-class competition with a 21st-place finish in Ruka, Finland, followed by a 15th-place result at Secret Garden in China.
She continued her development during the North American leg in January, delivering a breakthrough performance at Lac‑Beauport where she reached her first World Cup final and finished 11th, a career-best result at that stage. Stephens added further experience at Lake Placid with finishes of 23rd and 24th, rounding out a solid run of competitions leading into the Olympic Games.
At the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Stephens made her Olympic debut, finishing 15th in the women’s aerials event. Her performance marked a significant milestone in a short time in the sport, reflecting both her rapid progression and growing confidence on the international stage.
