2022 Olympians Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt have competed in the North Bay Mixed Doubles Tournament in Ontario, Canada, finishing in the bronze medal position.With 14 teams taking part, the format saw three round robin matches followed by finals. Round Robin Matches Vs Paquette/Daoust - Win 9 to 4 Vs Forget/Brown - Win 9 to 0 Vs Brunton/Horgan - Loss 8 to 3 Finals In the quarter-finals, Gill and Hewitt were again drawn against Canadian pair Forget and Brown. Gill/Hewitt again prevailed 7 to 3. Next up in the semi-final was Kaldvee and Lill from Estonia who took the win 4 to 7. In the final gold medal match, Canadian pair Brunton and Horgan, who the Australians met earlier in the round robin stage, took the win 5-3 over Kaldvee and Lill. After the event Gill commented. "We finished in this place this weekend in North Bay. We are happy with our performance and are excited about the improvements we have made in our last training block. "Next weekend we are playing in the Mixed Doubles Players Championship in Brantford, Ontario,, so we will take all our learnings from this event and apply them into the upcoming event this weekend!" |
