Kailani performed an almost flawless free program in defending her Senior Ladies crown, while for Kerry it was his fourth consecutive national title.
Kailani completed six triples in the free program, to increase her lead and deliver her highest score to date.
“I am so happy to defend my title,” Kailani said.
Coaches Galina Pachin and Kylie Fennell say Kailani has the goods to push further.
“We are all happy with her progress in just four weeks,” Pachin said.
“There’s a lot to do and we have set many tasks for edge work, technique and better extension. She keeps trying and working every day,” said Fennell.
Kailani will shortly travel to Los Angeles to meet up with US coach Tiffany Chin.
Kerry will also be heading back to Los Angeles shortly to continue his training, and was thrilled to defend his Australian title.
“I’m happy to keep my title and it was also a good chance to do things differently and try a few things before each event on and off the ice,” Kerry reflected.
